Moving Day May 13th, 2018
We moved back into the log cabin today. We celebrated by replacing a 40-year-old stove with a brand new stove that LOOKS like it's 40 years old. 😊 It's not good to mess with the ambiance of an 80-year-old cabin.
Ice Out on Gooderham Lake 2018
Not sure what happened to last year's "ice out" post, but I think life just got in the way. This year, the ice disappeared overnight between May 3rd and May 4th, 2018. It was odd because The Dock Spot (the company we bought our dock from) asked that we keep them informed about when the ice left the lake so that they could start putting docks back in place. On May 3rd I replied that there was a way to go. I had to retract that opinion on May 4th. Our dock was installed the same day. Let the summer begin. 😁

Ice Out on Gooderham Lake 2016
Today, Monday, April 18th, is the day that every bit of ice (except for the smallest ice cube) left the lake. It has been quite warm for the last few days, so we went from 85% ice-covered a week ago to being ice-free today.

Ice Out on Gooderham Lake 2015
We declared Monday, April 20th, as the day the ice left the lake. There had been a lot of rain overnight and on Monday morning, and this really speeded up the melting. The wind changed direction during the day and a few small sheets of ice drifted into the bay on Monday night, but by Tuesday afternoon they, too, were gone.

Ice Out on Gooderham Lake 2014
Monday, April 28th, 2014, saw the last of the ice disappear from the lake. This is one day later than 2013.

Ice Out on Gooderham Lake 2013
We decided to declare Saturday, April 27th, 2013, as the day the ice left the lake. That is not entirely true as there were still some big sheets of ice in the south/west end of the lake, but around our place it was open. It was a good day for the dogs as, for the first time in a long time, they were able to run around off-leash without us worrying about them going through thin ice. This ice out is a little more than a month later than it occurred in the spring of 2012.
